The Ark was a wonderful place because it was welcoming. The people didn’t know what we were doing, but we didn’t either, and we were just showing them what we did know, and they were open-minded enough to receive it, and somehow worked it into their lives. I think that’s marvelous, and I’m glad that you have included us in this project.

Preserving the performances from The Ark is absolutely invaluable, because some of the greatest folk artists that this country has produced have played at The Ark not once, but many times, and the tape recordings are a never-ending trove of valuable performances.

I think that it’s important to develop and pass along the recordings of this music, many of the songs may never be seen again. The Ark is the kind of place where people can go and pass along the music that’s important to them.”
